Mercedes works with adults – individuals and couples – and has an abiding interest in helping people make more meaningful connections in their relationships. She has a warm and kind manner and has gained specialist training in couples counselling from Relationships Australia. Sometimes her work involves helping couples to revitalise their relationship, or sometimes helping them with the difficult process of breaking up.
Mercedes is well-versed in the benefits of mindfulness and meditation, how the brain responds under stress, and how we can help ourselves to move in the direction of wellbeing. She has worked with anxiety, depression, stress, pain and disability, as well as addictions, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, trauma, sexual abuse and personality disorders.
Taking a collaborative approach, Mercedes utilizes a wide range of therapy styles, including ACT, emotion-focused, CBT, as well as DBT, mindfulness, and narrative approaches.
